INZP type surge arresters are equipped with a block of varistors made of zinc oxide.
The nonlinear volt-ampere characteristic of varistors makes it possible to quickly limit overvoltages and eliminate them by directing shock current to the ground.

The corresponding design of the varistors and the limiter makes it possible to absorb large energy of current shocks without destroying the module.
